Opening day at the Yard – Tiger’s vs. Orioles

Welcome to The Orioles Review sports fans.  Let me start out that if it wasn’t for my good friend at The Nationals Review producing such a quality page that I would not have been motivated to re-start this Orioles blog.  He gets all the credit and I hope that together we can provide a great snapshot of baseball in the Baltimore/DC metro region.  I promise not to try and buy him out or muscle his website into bowing down to my site. :)

So the Motor City Kitties roll into town today against the Birds for a three game set.  The Tigers are just off of a cold and hard fought series against the Kansas City Royals.  The Tigers won out two out of three games against the Royals, the last game in dramatic fashion.  It’s safe to say that the Royals are, for now, not playing along with their role as AL Central doormat.

The O’s had a successful but emotionally trying weekend in the Bronx as they won two out of three from the Yankees.  Chris Ray picked up two saves but blew one in a painful 10-7 loss on Saturday (4/7).  Painful in the sense that walk-off grand slams are never a fun way to lose a ballgame.  Either way, Stan the Man’s baseball land reported sales of their Alex Rodriguez voodoo dolls down 87% after Saturday’s game.

This should be a good series.  The O’s and Tigers match-up pretty well on paper.  If the O’s starters can deliver look for them to take the series two games to three.  The pitching matchups will be:

Daniel Cabrera vs. Chad Durban

Jaret Wright vs. Nate Robertson

Adam Loewen vs. Justin Verlander

Ok, we’re underway.  See you tomorrow for the full wrap-up!
